Bomb at the Prom

At least she's smiling :)

Poor girl,

Why, oh, why didn't someone warn her?

Purple fru-fru and a garden of buttons, flowers, words, butterflies, etc. across the bodice

is NOT the way to make an elegant impression.

More pics of this prom number, wherein a girl and her mother

turned one article of clothing into a prom number.

What's NOT so Hot

Oh, sweety, someone should have stopped you.
This one was a disaster.

McCall's 3033 wrap doesn't really help you.
The hat, on the other hand, well, it's just mah-vuh-lus ;)

The New Potato Sack Dress

Angharad provides us with an updated version of the potato sack dress,
complete with shapeless waist.
Personally, I think Lucy pulled it off a little better, back in 1956.
Comparatively, I feel Angharad beat the potato sack fashions on Project Runway back in January.

What NOT to Sew: Embarassing Your Child 101

What NOT to Sew: Embarassing Your Child 101

Embarassing Your Child 101

Parents are pretty good at embarassing their children.
We really should offer parenting classes on the topic, just for the parents who missed such gems as telling the whole world that you just bought your daughter her first training bra.

Speaking of underclothing, here's another way to embarass your child -- homemade underwear, made from hand-me-down t-shirts

As a blogger, Mommy Knows has some fun and interesting projects and pictures, but I think you cross the what-not-to-sew line when your son has to give up his clothing to make underwear for his sister.
